The Mercenaries mode features a variety of unlockable rewards, including new characters, weapons, abilities, and challenge stages. These unlocks provide long-term progression and encourage players to improve their scores across all stages.
Below is an overview of the major unlocks and how to obtain them.
New characters are unlocked by achieving high ranks in specific stages. Each character offers a unique playstyle and set of abilities.
Note: Bloodied Stages do not count toward character unlock requirements.
Important: The unlockable characters (Chris, Heisenberg, and Alcina) are only available if you own the Winters' Expansion DLC. Players without the DLC must complete all stages using Ethan Winters, which makes certain unlocks—such as the LZ Answerer significantly more challenging.
Certain powerful weapons can be unlocked by achieving high ranks or completing specific challenges in Mercenaries mode.
Some abilities become available only after completing certain challenges or reaching specific rank thresholds.
New stages unlock progressively as you complete earlier ones. Hard Mode and Bloodied Stages require high performance to access.
As with character unlocks, Bloodied Stages do not count toward rank-based unlock requirements.
